This weekend is a good time to celebrate the dads in your life because Sunday is Father’s Day. Rather than giving your dad another tee shirt or travel coffee mug, why not spend some quality time doing some interesting things around town? There are plenty of fun ways to spend the weekend that will make it feel like a special year.
Things to Do This Weekend
- A Cajun play back by popular demand, Eulalie And Grosbecs, will be presented Friday through Sunday June 15th – 17th at 7:30PM on Fridays and Saturdays and 2:00PM on Sundays at Cite des Arts Theater.
- On Saturday, there will be a Battle For The Paddle Shrimp Cook-Off from 8 a.m. to midnight at the Delcambre Fire Department, 302 N. Railroad St. in Delcambre. Judging will begin at 11:45 a.m. and food will be served to the public at noon. The cook-off will also feature live and silent auctions, fun, and music. Admission is $5.
- There will be a Charity Pool Tournament on Saturday at 10 a.m. at The Green Room, 229 Jefferson St. in Lafayette. You can spend time with dad during this inaugural event created to benefit the newly-established Greg Hebert lung cancer screening fund.
- On Sunday at 9 p.m., there will be a special screening of the Anthony Bourdain’s show Parts Unknown, specifically the episode on Cajun Mardi Gras. The screening will be free to attend and is set to honor the late chef and television personality. The screening will take place at The Jefferson Street Pub, 500 Jefferson St. in Lafayette.
