His new location has better allowed him to serve the community and area he calls home. As a native Louisianan, he grew up steeped in the culture and cuisine of the area. Manning his family’s crawfish traps makes him especially appreciative of the seafood for which Delcambre is so famous.

Perhaps Delcambre’s claim to fame is its annual Shrimp Festival, a five day celebration honoring the shrimping industry that is so vital to the region. Each August, the Shrimp Festival King and Queen reign over the event, which includes a shrimp cook-off and parade. Attendees have the chance to try shrimp prepared in a plethora of ways and prepared by an army of dedicated volunteers. Other events include live music and a daily dance party.
But August is not the only time to score fresh seafood in Delcambre. Delcambre Direct Seafood allows customers to connect with fishermen directly so that they can purchase fresh fish from the dock. Depending on the season, consumers can buy shrimp, crawfish, blue crab, oysters, snapper, trout, tuna, and more.
Plus, the Delcambre Seafood and Farmers Market takes place on the first Saturday of every month. Along with food for sale, attendees can enjoy food samples, live music, and activities for the kids.
Delcambre is a great place for those who like to catch seafood, as well as eat it. Bayou Carlin Cove provides an entryway to the Intracoastal Waterway and Southwest Pass. It is a popular spot for fishermen and women, as well as boaters and hunters. North Pier Marina is also a good place to dock both large and small boats with easy access to area attractions and delicious cuisine.
Jefferson Island offers something both for the nature lover and the history buff. Visitors can tour the Joseph Jefferson Home, built around 1870, as well as the fifteen-acre gardens full of lush tropical plants mingled with beautiful native oaks and moss.
Just outside of Delcambre, the TABASCO® Factory & Museum adds a bit of spice to the area. Visitors can learn more about the famous hot sauce, which has been produced in the same location since 1868. After visiting the Museum and Pepper Greenhouse, guests can pick up bottles to take home in the TABASCO Country Store, enjoy a meal in the TABASCO Restaurant 1868!, and tour the Jungle Gardens.
