This week in Lafayette, LA, and in nearby towns by the bayou, there is plenty to do. There are plenty of events to enjoy while the family’s schedules are a little less busy during the summer time. Another thing to think about during the less-busy summer time is setting an appointment for an exam and cleaning with the dentist. Remember that an exam and a cleaning should be done twice a year or at least every six months. When was your last visit to the dentist?
Fun Events This Week
- The Bayou BBQ Bash is this weekend under the Highway 90 bridge in Morgan City. The event is a BCA Sanctioned State Championship BBQ Competition that is free for the public to attend. There are opportunities to enter the competition though those come with entry fees.
- Gulf Brew 2018 is coming up next week, but tickets are selling quickly. The Acadiana region’s largest craft beer festival takes place this year at Blackham Coliseum. The event is known as the “Oktoberfest of the Summer,” mixes a celebration of craft beers with live music, good food, and lots of fun. All of the proceeds from ticket sales go to support the Acadiana Center for the Arts. The festival makes a direct impact on and provides funding for artist outreach projects, educational programs, summer camps, visual art exhibits, community development projects, and more.
- Drums Across Cajun Field, hosted by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette & Drum Corps International, happens on Monday, July 23rd at the Cajundome. The event features some of the best marching ensembles and drum corps from the country down to the bayou.
